about
Martian Raft is the first single from Leila Adu's album "Ode to the Unknown Factory Worker" released in 2011 on Tracce/Rai Trade.
In Leila Adu's own words: "Martian Raft is a confession to our unborn children explaining why the earth is no longer inhabitable in a possible future reality where we inhabit outer space. It is also about creating a space inside oneself at times when it seems that nature is not around us."

Martian Raft lyrics:
Hi High
(Watering ferns, making space)
Lost myself too many times, to lose my face
Open up a stitch in time, reveal God’s grace
Are we going the right way?
Trust me I’m a good map reader
I’d get lost if I didn’t read the signs
Step into an abyss of timelessness
Wake up hear we’ve got ninety-nine months left
Slide into an icecap, a global titanic
Can you make a space lifeboat in time?
My Mars backyard, it has no flowers
No trampolines on which to play
You can’t go outside, ‘cause you need a spacesuit
You could’ve played on earth but it dripped away
Hi High
(Watering ferns, making space)
Lost myself too many times, to lose my face
Open up a stitch in time, reveal God’s grace
Are we going the right way?
Cosmic philosopher Toilet cleaner
I’d get lost if I didn’t read the signs
Step into the raft we’re flying West
Take a turn we’re in the same Fourth World Mess
Slide into an icecap, a global titanic
Can you make a space lifeboat in time?
